"Rainmakers" – We're a business team at Spendesk, with a clear mission: increase the revenue (Aka the MRR) of the company while growing ourselves.
The 18th June 2018, we created the alias firstname.lastname@example.org. The same day two new Growth Folks (Aurélien & Vincent) joined Spendesk, 18 months after the creation of the company. This is when the Growth Team was officially created at Spendesk by Jérémy.
Since the beginning of the Growth Team, we heavily invest in the engineering aspect of the Growth. Being the first team in Europe to hire Growth Engineer to support the effort. Today we're considered as the most technical Growth team in France.
We are a team of 8 talented people with product, marketing, engineering, design, and data expertise fully dedicated to the Growth of the company. People are coming from others successful startups from the French Ecosystem (SIGFOX, Doctolib, Side.co, Station F, Ledger etc...)
On top of our mission to increase the revenue of Spendesk, we want to build the best growth team in Europe and design our own definition of Growth. That’s why we always publish content, organize webinar, record podcasts and deliver a newsletter every week.
We want to spread that "Growth is all about a team".

Aurélien Aubert 🇫🇷 — Lead Growth Engineer Auree, was the first Growth Engineer in Paris. Programming since he has a computer, he launched his own cryptocurrency at 17 years old.
Owner of all the engineering topics of the team from the design of the infrastructure to the technical choices, he is our point of connection with the Tech and Data team.
Coming from a small city in the South of Lyon, he joined Spendesk as an Intern and now lead a team of 3 engineers. He still has some bitcoin in the bank coming from the web agency he launched when he was 16 years old.
The best place to meet him is at an electronic festival 🎵.

Lionel Paulus 🇧🇪 — Growth Engineer Lio, is the front-end architect of the team. If you see something outside of the Spendesk product, it’s him behind.
Contributor of Vue.js and part of the movement about the Jamstack. Lionel is the front-end engineer you always wanted, he is a perfectionist and focuses on the performance. Google Speed Score loves him. He is improving the performance and conversion of the Spendesk website since January 2019.
After launching the biggest streaming platform for iPhone inside his teenage bedroom in Liège, Lionel moved to Paris to study engineering. Specialized and passionate about CRO or SEO he mixes coding and marketing.
The DJ of the team, if you are looking for a ticket for the next Tomorrowland, he is your guy! 💽

Maxence De Villepion 🇫🇷 — Growth Manager Max is the pyrotechnist of the team, the one who can expose every KPIs of the funnel.
Very strong in SEO and website performance, he is working in growth since 8 years from Corporate to most successful scale-ups. He was coming from the B2C, after a crazy adventure at Ledger, one of the biggest ecommerce websites during the CryptoBubble. He decided to join the team to learn new skills in the B2B World.
He is the GrowthPedia of the team, spending most of his time, energy and money to learn new skills. He is addicted to MooC and online courses. He was bored one summer, so he decided to study at Le Wagon (Batch #33). Outside the Growth, Max loves to invest his money, from Crypto to Zoom Shares, he plays Russian Hills every day. 🎰
Coming from the ”Pays Basque”, he masters the Clift Jumping.

Clément Malfroy 🇫🇷 — Growth Engineer Clem, is a backend engineer, fast shipper, any source of external data can't resist to his engineering mindset.
He is working on the Growth Engine and developing internal tools that will save hours to our Sales Team. « Do things that don’t scale… » and then call Clement.
True Geek, he spends years on video games, self-learner he joined 42 and finished with a master at ESCP 👨🎓. The youngest Lead Teacher of Le Wagon (19 yo). He joined Spendesk to have more impact with code and learn how the business side is working. He is working most of the time remotely from his hometown: Lyon.

Ugo Basciano 🇫🇷 — Growth Ops Ugo, is our ops guy. The one who ensures we are focusing on the essential. A real hub of the growth team, he is the point of contact with other team, to ensure we are building the right things at the right time
It's the first time he is working for a business team and more especially a Growth Team. He worked for Charp, where he managed the virtual assistant and was hired by Side.co to build the Ops Function.
Ugo is the strongest person of the team on a spreadsheet, you can’t beat him with advanced functions. When he is not doing Vlookup, he is travelling around the world. He has already visited more than 50 countries! 🌎

Louis Uguen 🇫🇷 — Growth Manager
Louis, is the juggler of the Team, the one able to jump from an outbound campaign to building a landing page or in the same time scrap an entire website!
Young and already a resume long as the career of Booba, from learning how to code to doing Sales automation in Bali for Kymono, he knows everything about outbound. He is definitely the stronger user of Salesforce in the team and the point of contact with the Sales team. The guy that we call when we need leads :)

Jérémy Goillot 🇫🇷 — Head of Growth
Jeremy is mister « Be BOLD ». For him, sky is not the limit, in fact it’s just the floor.
Entrepreneur in the soul, mind & body, he surprisingly always knows every details about the startups ecosystem, sometimes even before the company itself (what??). He arrives at the early beginning of Spendesk and is definitely considered as a large contributor of the company's success. Driven by passion before everything, he can cross mountains & oceans to obtain what he wants. His main concern is now to focus about the well-being of his team, what he does really well with his « accent Toulousain ».
He is a big believer of ownership with his famous quote « don’t ask for permission, ask for forgiveness »
Now working in San Francisco 🇺🇸 to launch Spendesk in the US.

Vincent Plassard 🇫🇷 — Growth Manager at Sharework
Vince, is one of the first members of the team. A true Outbound Expert, he knows how to find and talk to prospects!
After joining Spendesk in 2018, he perfected his scraping and coding skills at Le Wagon Lisboa in 2019 (Batch #293). He is the main contributor of the Growthletter. Originally from Brest, he spent 1 year in Finland before moving to Paris. Passionate about climbing 🧗🏻♂️, tattoo 🎨 and literature 📖.
He is the creative person of the team.

Tiffany Dubois 🇫🇷 — Product Owner at Spendesk Tiff, she is the one who ensures our creativity is captured and drives results to the company. On top of improving our productivity, she is the one responsible for launching free products that drive growth.
After 4 years in the acquisition team of Doctolib, she decided to join Spendesk to collaborate and work with engineers on acquisition topics. Outside Height (our project management tools) and Looker, Tiffany won the growth cooking contest - a real chief in pastry 🧁.

The 1:1 Weekly Meeting
It’s incredibly important employee-manager moment where we share feedback and review ongoing projects.
Every Growth Folk have a 1:1 session with in Manager, for 45 min at the begin of the week.
The main goal of this meeting is to review projects and ensure we’re not block and all ressources are aligned. This help us to add a weekly dynamic and be challenge.
When he was in Paris, Sam Altman said “It’s common to have a vision; it’s rare to plans.” This is so true. One problem though, what does it mean to have a plan?
A plan is like a news story. There is a lede, and then it goes on to say who, what, when, where, why, and how. But getting to this point requires iterating with the whole team/company so there is a shared understanding.
More than anything for a plan to be successful it needs to be shared.
This is a framework we use to share the plan to the company, a Speadsheet (this is universal) who is available at the begin of the month.
Rate your Colleague 💯
During a discussion in San Francisco with Etienne (CEO of Bonjour.io), he explains us why direct 1:1 inside the team. We decide to implement this framework inside the Growth Team. The main goal of this routine is to increase the collaboration and create an open discussion around people from the team. The manager is not here to solve your problem with another folk. It's your role to talk about it with the person in question.
It's a monthly meeting, 30 minutes per duo, no exception, you do it with every member of the team. You need to prepare it in advance to focus on discussion with concrete exemple. This is the format of the interview:
- How did we come to work together?
- What worked?
- What did not work
- To start / Actions
- How do I work? (each folks explain how they like to work, from notification on slack to be in the loop for technical projects)
You have access to your own grade, only the manager can see all the result.
Weekly Kickoff (Slack)
What is the best way to start the week? It's to have clear priorities of the job to be done. Every Growth Folk have to share on Slack the 3 mains priorities for the week, on top of roadmap and our project management, this routine on slack help us to create interaction.
In the past we use to have a short meeting less than 15 min, where we share the priority, due to the timezone difference, we move it into fully async ritual.
This is a Friday routine at Spendesk, we take time to wrap up all the moment of the week around beers and post-it.
The main goal of this meeting is to ensure you finish your week without any bad idea in mind to go on the weekend without any frustrations. I'm sure you had this feeling on the past, where you think about how bad is the marketing team during a Sunday while doing a barbecue with your friends. We want to avoid that!
This meeting is prepare in advance where all Growth Folks will have to assigned a grade (from 1 to 10, where the maxium is perfect). And after they have to list down some "virtual post-it" about topics they faced this week:
- Fires – What didn't go well (something that takes more time than expected, a blocker in your project...) ⇒ the goal is to evacuate all the frustrations of the week and make the changes to be sure that the situation won't repeat again
- To Start – Ideas or new project that you would like to do in short/mid term
- Good – What are you proud of? It's good to share some good vibes and remember the impact we had!
Bi-Weekly Growth Demo 🍿
The team is growing and we had the feeling to loose track of what other people are doing. We decided to organize a bi-weekly Growth Demo.
Every 2 week, volunteer growth folk need to prepare a demo of 5 minutes about a project they did during the current sprint. After each demo there is a Q&A session.
All the demo are recorded available for the whole company. We decided to invite a "random" Spendesker for every demo to create this feedback loop.
That help us to share more growth mindset inside the company.
Zoom of the Week 🎙️
Every Sunday night we share an update to Spendeskers, where we share insight, project update and KPIs review. We decided to add a "Zoom of the week" where a Growth Team member is presenting a project from the team. In this 5-10 minutes vidéos, it's a great format to share learning or failures and ensure the company still align on what Growth Team is doing. Keep in mind your main enemy is the unclear. When people will not know what the growth team is doing the will start thinking why did they have a growth team.
We decided to share with you on the Zoom of the Week, to give you more exemple of the format. Enjoy!
Curve Fever Party
When we don't work, our Geek background is back. We found this little online game (recommanded by Tiffany and apparently famous at Doctolib) where you can play with your colleague.
30 min on this game and you will see who are "Mauvais perdant" and who have some serious skills. When we need to take big decision and nominate someone, the winner of the last Curve Fever decide :)

Building a Team is all about to know each other, from learning the way to communicate to collaborate with each other. Since the beginning of the Growth Team we are persuaded that you need to work with people your respect and consider more than "just a colleague". It's over the time when during the family dinner, people criticizes their coworkers. It's time to work with people you respect and have fun with.
To build a strong team, on top of the different routine mention above, we discovered that we share the same passion: Travel around the world 🌎. So we decided to organize an annual trip in Africa with all the team members of the team (Everyone paid his own ticket, we don't use Spendesk money for that).
A regular Growth retreat is normally 12 days, far away from our European culture, in the most beautiful continent in the world: Africa. During those days, we mix workshop, visionary sessions, demo to build and think about the next 12 months plan of the team. Where do we need to be in 12 months from now?
On top of this focus session, we mix with a lot of activities from swimming with Dolphins to boat party or hiking. We know how to have fun and know each other.
This is for sure the best 12 days of the year for us where we build unique common memories.
